1st German -Chinese Workshop on Biotechnology in a Bioeconomy
- a great success!

Generously supported by the state government of Baden-Wuerttemberg the first German-Chinese workshop on the role of biotechnology in a future bio-economy took place at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). There has been a close partnership of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg with Jiangsu Province in eastern China for several years now.
Researchers from institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Tianjin, Dalian, Qingdao) and various universities (Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai) and German experts discussed the current state of research in their respective country. Innovative concepts for a future bio-based industrial production were proposed.

The workshop addressed current issues in the fields of

- Biogas production
- Biomass to fuel
- Biomass to value-added chemicals
- Algae-based bioprocesses
- Process design and modelling.
